AdBlock Blocker Acquired But The Rumored Purchaser Has Denied

The question continues when AdBlock Plus opposed that they purchased AdBlock.

But before this renunciation, this news was circulating:

An unidentified purchaser bought ad blocker AdBlock – but according to some sources, it has been probably guzzled by its competitor, AdBlock Plus.

According to AdBlock, it is currently engaged in Germany’s Adblock Plus Acceptable Ads system which helps identify criteria that makes for better ads.

Publishers and websites that are already confirmed, larger advertisers will provide payment to ABP for their ads to materialise in people’s browsers. ABP denied acknowledging which advertisers pay in cash or the amount of revenue it generates. Obviously, users can override which ads are allowed or not allowed.

On the other hand, Adblock Plus, which is owned by Eyeo GmbH, announced that they will spread out its evaluation process for unblocking advertisements to an independent reviewer for a 100 percent transparent bid.

According to the founder of AdBlock Michael Gundlach, the company has a mutual objective with AdBlock Plus, who created the acceptable ads program.

“But I do not like the fact they also control the program, because they are supported by Acceptable Ads advertisers. Now Adblock Plus will be transferring custodianship of Acceptable Ads to an impartial,” he added.

“I love this idea, in fact it was my wife Katie’s suggestion. Due to this change, I’m happy for AdBlock to join the program. As a result I am selling my company, and the buyer is turning on Acceptable Ads. My long-term managing director will keep working with the new company. I believe this is a great time for you users.”

As stated by the editor of German website Mobile Geeks Bernd Rubel to The Register earlier this week,  Adblock was about to be purchased by Adblock Plus. Mobile geeks have been covering Eyeo for several years.

Rubel mentioned that the takeover will become noticeable once an update of the browser extension is forwarded to people. He said, “If both AdBlock and Adblock Plus include the Acceptable Ads, Eyeo doubles the reach of the advertisements and has nearly 100 million users.”

As mentioned by Adblock, it is the most popular Google Chrome extension, with more than 40,000,000 users.
